We recently installed routeros on 2 ALIX2C2 boards, we were able to boot the boards with routeros but there seems to be a strange problem
if we tye to reboot the device using winbox/system/reboot the boards hangs there seems toe be no ethernet indications. only after power recycle the boards boots normally
details
cf card - 512 MB Transcend
router os version installed 2.9.50
Power supply 18v .5 amp
Do you mean to say we reformat the cf card and install all the routeros packages separately rather than combined routeros packages?
Or
Ftp upload separate routeros packages on existing cf card which has combined routeros package already installed (if this is the case then should we install specific packages or all the packages)
Normunds meant that you should install the “routerboard” package from the all-packages zip file. Just copy the package file (.npk) to your router via FTP or drag-and-drop to your Winbox “files” window. The reboot the router to install the package. As the router will only use the newly installed package AFTER the reboot, you will probably have to power-cycle the board after installation of the package one (hopefully) last time. Be sure not to power-cycle it before the installation has finished (watch the console!).
The routerboard package does contain code to work around several reboot issues on different hardware platforms (amongst other routerboard hardware specific things). As it was needed on the WRAP boards IIRC (the predecessor of the ALIX boards), his suggestions makes sense
correction, sorry - in v3 there is no more need for routerboard.npk to make other boards reboot, they already can do it. Except Alix which has some kind of issue and is not using standard reboot procedure. We suggested the manufacturer to add a fix in the bios.
