Hello!
This month I bought 2 HapLite from a local reseller. Territorially it is central Russia. During the Wi-Fi setup, I encountered limitations on the choice of the region and its parameters.
In “interface wireless” may select only “frequency-mode=regulatory-domain” and “country=russia3”. There are no other variants.
I want “superchannel” and “no_country_set” for example.
Also, the RU icon on the serial number line on the device and on the box is alarming. Until this year, how many devices I bought-I never saw such a thing. RU was not exactly written.
What happened? Now the devices come with a tight binding to the country and region in which they will be sold? And if I want to buy a second-hand device from another source, will I encounter the wacky restrictions wifi for that country?
Your country makes it very hard/impossible to import devices that do not have these restrictions. You can talk to the local distributors for more details.
“local distributor” does not know absolutely nothing and does not want to find out anything. This is why you see this topic on the forum.
So any mikrotik device, beginning in 2018, will have regional restrictions for Russia, right?
And how for other countries? Is there an international version of the devices?
There is always international version in such case available. If your local law prohibits to sell such version on your local market, you will not find a local dealer that will sell it in the future. But you can buy the international version on your own outside your county and import it individually. Citizens of USA already do this, because they are in the same situation like you.
What are all the restrictions in the RU-version? Wi-Fi power? Wi-Fi channels?
If I buy rb951, rb2011 can I use 1 watt wi-fi?
Limitations except wi-fi?
Is the magic netinstall able to help?
Limitations make the device conform with local law in your country. What kind of rules you have, I suggest you check, before working in the WISP field. It will come in handy.
About removing restrictions: I can’t publicly advise you on this, I hope you can understand. Trial and error is all it takes for you to find out yourself.
