Greeting,
I have a wireless link at a distance of about 1500m made with two Groove 52 HPn mounted directly on antenna connector of the 24 dbi grid antenna. The link is from my apartment to my father-in-law’s apartment, which he does not use intensively, so he only recently informed me that the link drops occasionally. First I started netwatch, and when I found that it was crashing 3 to 5 times a day for half an hour, I started DUDE on my router and made an interesting discovery.
All outages lasted exactly 28 minutes and 55 to 58 seconds, so if we add the time required for detection, probably 30 minutes each.
Does anyone have an idea where such regular behavior comes from?
I have to say that two days ago I uploaded both sides of the link to the last revision of ROS and configured the link again, and now it seems that the problem has disappeared, but I’m still interested in where the regular duration comes from.
Greeting,
I haven’t noticed anything like that in logs, but it’s not out of the question.
The story in my head says that if it was a radar and it lasts exactly 30 minutes every time, why the intervals between the outages are not equal… …
You’re probably right, but everything happens in a densely populated part of the city, so it’s hard for me to imagine what kind of radar it would be…
Anyway, thanks for the comment
I didn’t say it’s detecting actual radar, it might be something else which (to ROS) slightly resembles shape of a radar pulse (could be some BlueTooth gadget, could be some microwave owen, could be some other WiFi device transmitting a burst of energy not decodable by your devices, etc.
So check logs when the link breaks again. You might want to increase verbosity of logs with regard to wifi/wireless (on both ends; only the peer “detecting” radar will mention it, the other peer will only see broken link). And you may want to set link frequency to a non DFS channel.
Hello
On a router OS version 7.14.1, I set up four l2tp clients named l2tp-4, l2tp-3, l2tp-2, l2tp-1, each of which connects to an internal server, I want if Each connection was established with ping 46.0.0.0, the link should be disconnected and it should automatically switch to the l2tp client that does not have ping 46.0.0.0. Please guide me.
