Reinstall via Burn ISO CD

Hi there,

I need information how to reinstall mikrotik via burn ISO without loosing my soft-id. The storage is still the same device, my question is :

  1. when its come to format the storage question, will it change my soft-id if i answer yes ?
  2. i will reconfigure the box all over from beginning, will it change my soft-id if i answer no when it ask me to keep old configuration?

Please not point me using netinstall.
Any help will be appreciated, thanks

you wont lose your soft-id with the cd install. on 2.9.51 im curious if you get a memory leak after 3-4 days however, if so report back please.

  1. Installing ROS via CD.ISO will not cause to loose SOFT-ID, unless you do low level format on the Disk (CF or HDD)

  2. Reconfigure the box all over from beginning, will not change the soft-id
    even it is asking to keep old configuration when answered as no.
    This will only reset the configuration to 0 setting, similar to ‘/system reset’ command on RBs (or console) while it is retaining the original SOFT-ID.
    Backup files are and will still remain in the disk even it is resetted, unless it is erased manually.
