Dont look only at the sending side. The receiver needs a good antenna to receive a
weak signal and a short cable run to get it to a good receiving card. And both sides
are receivers. So you can send a strong signal from an omni. But it makes a bad
job with the signal it receives. And it receives more than you want it to receive.
So use the appropriate antenna and then look at the needed power.
For output, yes, but you see receive gain on the 9dBi that you won’t have on the 3. Both output 29dBi, but the 9 dBi will receive a -70, the 3 dBi will receive a -76.
Better to go with a bigger antenna than a more powerful radio.
