Being realistic , I understand that their is no exact release date for ROS 6
just looking for a basic time Frame… will it be coming out before the end of 2012?

the beta - for sure. the final - cannot be determined.
the beta must contain new routing module - what’s the percentage of its readiness? ![]()
As well as all the other new features, the new routing module must contain MPLS fast reroute.

It must be a massive task for the coders at Mikrotik to rewrite the routing module, thanks for your hard work (and heated debates) guys.
I hope they can fix Nstreme so that I can use it with dual-chains on my PtP’s. I have a freakin signal of -40db, yet with Nstreme I get only 180/150 data rates. NV2 is a solid 300/300, but I suffer from latency that ranges from 3-12ms..
turn that freakin -40db into -65db and try it again … it’s yelling so loud its distorting the signal.
^ why is it then, I can push 210mbps when running a speedtest, yet it drops 4 packets out of 5000 when its pushing only 110 real traffic? Also, what can I do to turn down the power? All rates fixed? Its not like UBNT where it has the power slider bar. I HATE messing with the power on Mikrotiks. You end up messing it all up. They always said leave it at “default”, you would think it could automatically adjust the power lower…
Check this tab, and see what value is in there:

And then go to this tab and set ‘card rates’ and something 5-6db lower to start with. Then adjust from there 1 at a time (up or down). Never go higher than what was in that field to start with. Review the signal strength on the other end until you get it around 60-62db. Then do the same on the other side.

Just a note - we have had tons of links with excellent signals, but lowering the power helped tremendously because its not driving the card so hard, or in other cases its shouting too loud at the other end.

During the MUM wireless workshop I saw, that Uldis is using ROS ver. 6.0alpha1.
Regards,
the current test build:
6.0 data 30.01.2012 (pause?)
5.15 date 15.03.2012 (=6.0alpha1+new capabilities, enhancements, and corrected errors)
This photo was taken at the MUM. When I saw ROS V6 Aplha my face was

is there any chance to have auto-adapt power in the software? targetting -60 signal with 25+ SNR
it would be really nice.
(Or at least someone make a script for this?)
NEC have the auto-adjust-power-level feature, as it adjust the powerlevel to get the best signal. Ive missed that in ROS…
What kernel version will v6.x be using?
Currently 2.6.x but by the time of beta/rc it will use current kernel release (3.x)
when to download?

if you desperately want to test an alpha, email support
Can you write a changelog? Simply the main changes…
If there are wireless changes (NV2), so I try it
in nv2 - nothing major has been changed yet. maybe at a later build
