In General, when you launch a scan all connected clients will be disconnected.
Furthermore when you login to a client via wireless and start a scan, you cannot stop it anymore 
Because the scan will kick you out (stopping the current associations for scanning), and you cannot stop the scan anymore.
Or perhaps it stops automatically, and you can re-login, but not see the results.
There fore there’s a feature request flying around to be able to start a scan for a specific time (say 10 seconds), then end the scan (restoring normal wireless connectivity) and saving the result to a file (for review).

Understood from the beginning, but what I meant to ask is, is there a script that can do what cmit mentioned (i.e do a scan for 10 or 30 seconds and report rssi levels to a log file) ?
It would be a big plus to any wisp
