Remote update of RouterOS to 6.41.3

Hi all,

I am currently managing few Mikrotik routers remotely. All of them have always been updated frequently. However, I red that the last updates remove the functionality of “master port” and might induce in some problem after the system reboot.

As I need to perform the upgrade remotely, I would like to ask if anyone of you did the remote upgrade and - if yes - if any proble came up or if there is any “best practice” to be followed for this particular process.

thanks

I have done it fist at home, at a test bed. No problems.

Then a remote location which was a RB2011 and a PPTP VPN link. It worked. I kept my fingers crossed. First of course I tried the remote AP’s to update so if they fail, only one AP will fail, and not the main router (RB2011). But once all 5 AP’s were successfully up, I did the RB2011. No problems.

But I suggest, that you first download the configuration of the remote site (backup), restore it on the SAME type routerboard at home, and do the upgrade. See how it goes.

Also, have a plan B in case it does not work. make sure you have a working spare device with the old configuration so you can go tot he client and install it without issues.

Thanks for the hints!
