Remove dude from RB493G - is there a way to?

Hello,

I’m fighting since few days to remove Dude from my router. I have access to the Dude interface, I have also access to the RB493G.

So: the package dude.npk is missing, dude is running. The rest of packages is 6.19. I tried Netinstall, but unfortunately it doesn’t boot the device (wireshark shows bootp packets, but netinstall doesn’t react in any way for some reasons).

So I’ve tried reset to default (system reset-configuration run-after-reset=backup.rsc) , still nothing - dude is here…

So how to get rid of it?

Thanks.

Figure out why netinstall isn’t working.

Have you disabled the firewall on your windows computer?

Well, I really can’t. Have tested all the stuff, Netinstall is just f*#ed up somehow.

I’ve tested on two Windows 7, one Wine with firewalls definately disabled, pcap removed, wireshark disabled just in case, it really listens on udp 67 but stil - Nothing, its deaf.

Oh, and btw I can boot linux easily on this machine from my dhcp server (YES, I have tried both bootp and dhcp, just in case you ask .

Maybe I could erase this Dude shit from Linux itself?

At least, I got really pi&#$d off with this dude, as it eat my CPU.

To solve this stubborn Netinstall problem just disable all interfaces (tun, vbox wlan etc) in Windows, leave only single poor ethernet.

Now Netinstall manages to see the device. Very gentle. Did reinstall, no more Dude. No more problem.

Good deal. Glad you got it working.

On which OS are you running VirtualBox? Just curious.

The Dude is listed among other packages in /system packages. You could have marked it for de-installation there and just reboot the router.

It is not visible in 6.19, but this problem is fixed in 6.20.
Try installing 6.20 and uninstall from packages.
