Remove mac cookie: multiple hosts with same mac

Hi,
First of all, thank you for your help.
I’m new to the forum, if I make a mistake I apologize in advance.

I’m having an error in : Remove mac cookie: multiple hosts with same mac. Phones that give this error cannot access the internet. Especially Iphone and android phones that get updates and get Private mac addresses. Has anyone experienced and solved this problem?

Are you using a (universal) repeater? (aka Mikrotik pseudo bridge). Universal repeaters are L2.5 bridges, they replace the MAC address in the packet by their own MAC address.

The newer IOS and Android devices generate private MAC addresses (what can be disabled in the settings). If they generate the same pseudo random list, then you will indeed see devices with the same MAC address.

Could we inform people to turn this off, and as an implementation control refuse all private mac addresses in the “access list” ?

Hi;
We do not use universal repeaters. The problem we are talking about here is not a case of forwarding their own mac addresses like a repeater.
The situation is that the same mac address that we observe in the hotspot debug logs from the microtik log detail appears in the host list with 2 different ip addresses in the system and the remove mac cookie warning for the device with this mac address in the log section.
This network is a standard hotel wireless internet network
Yes, we close the private networks tab for the latest updates on both ios and android by users.

Is the double MAC address a private range MAC address ? If not, to whom (factory name) are they assigned? (https://macvendors.com/)
Hotel guests do bring their own repeaters :slight_smile: .

i mean like this picture. 1 mac adress take 2 ip adress

Any Suggest?
