Repairing an SXT

Had 2 SXT’s damaged by an installer who was trying to run external CAT6 into some SXT’s and managed to knock off an IC while drilling.

As far as I can see the IC is an MX25L512C / MI-12G - http://html.alldatasheet.net/html-pdf/267906/MCNIX/MX25L512MC-12G/157/1/MX25L512MC-12G.html
I’m going to attempt to resolder a replacement (in case the originals have been damaged) however was wondering if anyone could confirm this on their own device.

It would also appear that pins 2 and 7 are connected (based on board tracks which have been partly ripped off)?
I’m looking at pins
1 2 3 4

5 6 7 8

with the left hand side being the edge of the board.

Any tips or comments welcome, wish me luck!

don’t change that flash, you need to use the same part for the device to work. find an expert at soldering and use the same part to put back. you can even use wires to do this.

So how does an IC inside an enclosed case breaks of completely, by drilling??

probabably drilled right through by accident

What Normis said, the guy drilled straight through and knocked it off.

Thanks for the tip Normis, will see how I go!
