repeater? station and AP or WDS only?

I need to put together 3 or 4 repeaters to go with a hotel install we did.

Right now, on every floor there is a rb112 and a NMP-8602, all wired to a switch which connects to a rb532 and a dsl line…works great!

I want to use a RB 112 for the repeater as well and as i see it i have two options:

2 cards, one in station mode, one in AP mode.
or
WDS, 1 card.

A while ago at a different install i had a similar setup and a WDS repeater on a wrap board with a 8602…tons of trouble, i pulled that and ran a hard wire.

between a 8602 on a RB 532 and 2 x cm9s on a RB112 i was getting random disconnects that lasted from 5 sec to a few min…i also got the same result with a 8602 and a cm9 in the rb112.

If i do wds this time it will be with a SR2…

anyone have any indoor experience with a repeater using WDS? what card combo and results?

tks

As you cannot bridge station in 2.9 version, then ‘true’ repeater is possible with WDS (AP–AP or AP–station-WDS).

bridge station? what does that mean?

and i only need IP traffic to be passed if that what you ment by a “true” bridge..

in the AP-AP setup do you just set both to AP, and then enable WDS on both (static as i will have a few repeaters)?

thanks so much.

interface wireless mode=station cannot be bridged due to limitation of 802.11

I assume you have at least the following topology:
MainAP(wlan1)—(wlan2)Bridge/repeater(wlan3)—Client(wlan4).
WDS link is required between wlan1 and wlan2 at least, as repeater acts as bridge.
You can set any of the following configuration,
wlan1(AP)—wlan2(AP);
wlan1(AP)—wlan2(station-wds);
wlan1(AP)—wlan2(wds-slave);
