We have the need to develop an embedded device with LAN support, but since a RB411 will have all the CPU power and RAM with a LAN and MiniPCI slot already at a decent price, my thought are to explore the possibility to either reprogram the board completely, or to be able to develop a add-on package that can do what we want. A simple script will not be able to do it.
Any possibility for this, or anyone did something like this before? I’ll need to be able to monitor inputs and control outputs, so will probable have to ‘hotwire’ the RB as well.
At the very least, we can develop a seperate embedded device, connect it to the RB’s RS232 port and work through ROS API or telnet to the serial port, if that is possible.
Any help would be appreciated.
