Replacing VPN Routers with Mikrotik

Hello

I use 3 of these
http://www.trendnet.com/products/TW100-BRV204_v1.htm

to link 3 offices togeather, I wanted to upgrade to routeros for more flexability

Would a rb500 have more cpu power than this unit?

From what I can gather, it should not be a problem. It may actually boost performance (depending on how much you can spend). I saw some excryption acellerator cards (miniPCI) which is compatible with Linux - so that might work on MT as well.

Tunnels alone, you should not have any problems.

This TW100-BRV204, supports only 5 IPsec tunnels, so it is very limited, with mikrotik you can do more and alo you can tweak and tune it more so it can perfrom better.

Yea, I was hoping RB500 would have more CPU speed, I think it would.

what about the ability to support more than 3 minipci radios via a routerboard?

or is the rb500 able to do that? i have not seen an offical ruling just a buch of threads where people were pointing to the power supply as the issue.

jo2jo,
Daughterboard (e.g. RouterBOARD 502) provides you with 2 additional MiniPCI slots for RouterBOARD 532. There are not any problems to use 3 65mW wireless cards in this system.
