Replicate Netgear WNCE2001 wireless bridge function on mAP2

I want to replicate on an mAP2 the functionality of the excellent Netgear WNCE2001 wireless-to-ethernet adapter, which many of you may know.

The way the Netgear works, of course, is it has a built in IP address for the web mgmt of its functionality, and it also passes thru the IP address from whatever network’s (non-MT router or ISP, etc) DHCP server it’s connected to. (The mgmnt IP address, by the way, can also be changed to DHCP, so you see two consequitive addresses on any LAN scanner: one, the Netgear’s own and the other, the ethernet-connected gadget’s, which the Netgear passed thru.)

Now - having diligently looked up and down this forum and elswhere, I’ve found, of course, the instructions how to turn an MT into bridge mode with the wlan turned into station, etc. However, with everything being set up fine in bridge mode, the DHCP simply does not pass through to the client, no matter what I do.

I also know that between two MTs you can set up AP to Station Bridge modes, but that’s a whole different story, where both gadgets need to be MTs. That’s not what I’m after.

What I want is to be able to connect with my mAP2 to whatever wi-fi network is available on the premises (hotel, campus etc) and pass everything transparently out through an ether port to whatever brand of recipient router I may connect to it. Whether that ends up being bridge mode, or a dumbed down routing mode, I don’t care as long as it does it.

That’s what the Netgear WNCE2001 does so well, so transparently…

Can someone please help with this and provide step-by-step instructions?

Much appreciated
