Request Basic Setup Assistance RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN

Hi there, I hope this message reaches you well, and thanks for your time and assistance in advance.

I just bought a RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN and trying to use it as a router at home, just like the other routers I have bought from retail stores, and setup easily.

The Winbox util connect to router is available via ethernet port 2, but not sure what to change other than SSID and password.

I reset the modem and connect to the router port1, then turn on router.

I can see the wireless and connect, but no internet.

I suspect maybe the default IP address range, and possibly MAC address, as per info I have read, though shouldn’t it work out of the box?

Thanks for your assistance,
Michael

Hello,

We all have to start somewhere. I assume you are trying to set it up to grab an IP address from your modem?
If so open winbox and go to IP then dhcp-client and verify that one is setup on ether1 and that add default route is checked and use peer dns is checked (unless you are specifying a different dns). in Winbox click on new terminal and enter: ip dhcp-client print
here you should see the dhcp-cient and if its working you should see an IP address that it has received from your modem.
if this all checks out. you need to make sure that in IP firewall nat there is a masquerade entry for your LAN network.

typically a system reset configuration will wipe everything and setup a default configuration that will work. I assume your modem has been rebooted as well?

Josh

Thanks jspool, dunno’ if it helped the OP but it helped me!

Try follow this example, here is ether5 the isp but you better use ether6 to connect to internet
because you have not need a gigabit port to internet uplink.
Use one of port 1 to 5 for lan setup
