[REQUEST] Eth adapter driver | MT can't recognize adapter

Hello,

I have recently purchased new gigabit adapters for my MT boxes. Unfortunately ROS does not recognize these adapters. This model might be overlooked. Would be great if it could be supported with a new release.

The mentioned adapter: Intel® Gigabit ET Dual Port Server Adapter PCI-Express (82576 Gigabit Ethernet Controller)
Detailed info: http://www.intel.com/Products/Server/Adapters/Gb-ET-Dual-Port/Gb-ET-Dual-Port-overview.htm

On my mt boxes (each of them have);
Using: ROS v4.1
License: Level 4
Hardware: Intel Q9400 cpu, 2Gigs of ram, intel m/b, 40gb ide disk

Can send a supout.rif to mt support, if requested.

Regards,

yes, please make supout.rif and send it to support@mikrotik.com

Hi, I have the same problem. Have you any information or solution? Thanks for the reply.

We don’t add custom drivers, you will have to wait until the kernel developers add support for it (I think this is supported in the new kernels) and then you have to wait until MikroTik updates the RouterOS kernel. I don’t know when this will happen, hopefully in 1-2 months.

Does ROS 4.3 support intel 82576?
In kernels 2.6.27.41, 2.6.29, 2.6.31, 2.6.32 igb driver (82575/82576) present.

Did the beta version 5 add support for 82576? I’m looking around for a more performant card for our current x86-based routers, and I’d like to pick a card which has RouterOS support so we can switch them to RouterOS one day.

The choice seems to be Intel 82576 on an Intel-brand card or NetXen NX3031 on a HP-brand card. Currently I’m leaning towards the 82576 because I know it has multiqueue support in Linux. The NX3031 is a bit of an unknown to me.

Thank you very much SmalleR. I’ll go for the 82576 then.

It’s a bit sad if RouterOS actually uses legacy IRQ’s though; that’s quite a waste of a multiqueue NIC.
