Reserving IP addresses.

Is there a way to use MT to reserve IP addresses? We have had a pipe provider issue us a class C address range to use for our servers that we will be setting up. What we want to be able to do is reserve these addresses so that nobody else can use (pirate) them.

I had a co-worker suggest that I just add all the IP’s to the ethernet card but I didn’t think that was possible. I was under the impression that you can only assign multiple IP’s to an ethernet card if they have different subnets.

eg. 192.168.1.2 and 192.168.2.2

What my co-worker is suggesting is that I assign the whole 192.168.1.0/24 block to the ethernet card. Again, is it possible to do this?

No problem.
You cannot normally have ip addresses from the same subnet on DIFFERENT interfaces in one machine…
