Reset RB 750GL with disabled Reset Switch

Hi!

Do you remember the post, where i asked how to disable the reset switch? It works great!
But it’s a pain in the ass if you forget to enable it on test devices

Ok, i finally killed a RB 750GL. The reset switch is disabled and there is no way to communicate via ip. All ports are member of a switch (vlan mode: secure) an i forget to put the management vlan on a port. The RB ist configured only to accept connections from the management vlan.
Long story short: I locked myself out.

Is there a way to reset the board in another way, i.e. soldering some cable to a serial port?

have you tried to read ‘Quick Guide’ from http://routerboard.com/RB750GL (http://routerboard.com/pricelist/download_file.php?file_id=295)? You might find top of second page interesting.

Use NetInstall

Ok, it’s back in action
But it is very mysterious. I tried NetInstall and the quick guide information, but nothing worked. Then I pressed the reset button for a long, long time. It looked like the board reboots again. After that it was accessible again.

While trying to reconstruct the circumstances, I noticed that it is possible to reset the RB 750GL with the reset pin, no matter what the “enable-jumper-reset” option is set to. After a reboot the “enable-jumper-reset” option its set to “no”. I don’t understand that…
