Resetting 411AH routerboard

Hello,

I have a 411AH routerboard with a R52n-M wireless card attached. It’s part of my test kit to get acquainted with the Mikrotik product suite. The problem is that I have locked myself out of it.
In Winbox I see the 411AH’s mac address but the ip address just says “0.0.0.0”. I tried holding in the, what I presume is the reset button, on the top right of the 411AH board but still no luck - just says 0.0.0.0. Changing my ip to be in the 192.168.88/24 subnet and I also can’t see it as 192.168.88.1 .

Any ideas ? :frowning:

You can log in through the MAC address. You don’t need a working IP address to log in with Winbox.

Click on the MAC address in the connect to window and you will be logged in. Then you can assign an IP address from Winbox as you desire.

You can also log in through the serial port with a serial crossover or rollover cable. Set your terminal program to 115K, 8, N, 1.

Then you can configure the RouterBoard from the command line.

/system reset-configuration

will clear your settings and bring back the default config after a reboot.

“You have much to learn, grasshopper.”

No joy with this. Can’t get any response via serial connection (although I have no modems any more to test that the cables are working - that will be tomorrow) and the mac address connection simply comes up with an error - as per the attached file.

Problem solved ! It was the delightful Windows 7 OS on my laptop :frowning: . When I booted it to XP I could connect no problem via the mac address & winbox.
