Resetting (setting?) factory password

Hi All,

I recently purchased a Netmetal AX. When it arrived it was not broadcasting any SSID, and the factory password on it’s labels didn’t work (I tried replacing 0 and O, and 5 and S). Running netboot and fully clearing the configuration worked to remove the password, and get it to broadcast a SSID. The problem is that now whenever I reset the device, it returns to the initial (broken) configuration, requiring the netboot fix. Is there any approved way of overwriting the factory config? Has anyone else encountered this issue? It looks for all the world like there was simply a step missed in the configuration of the device in the factory.

"Configure script" in Netinstall?

or -s in CLI version?

But be prepared to re-netinstall the device while doing experiments with the new .rsc files as it might not be easy to have it run correctly.

Probably you should start from the factory default configuration script (that you can get with /system default-configuration print) and work on it.

There have been instances where the wrong label was applied at the factory. You can verify this based on the mac address.

If you want to know the default password, the netinstall script has access to it and can log it or write it to a file for you.

adding

`/sys id set name=$defconfPassword` to my install script set the id as the password.

It turns out that while I checked my Os and Ss I did not check for G versus 6. So that’s on me, I guess I should probably get some reading glasses.

Don't forget 1, lowercase L and uppercase i

I always use camera x3 zoom mode since they started using these passwds.
Lately they try to avoid using ambiguous characters.

Yep, JFYI:
