Resolving guest wireless

I’ve setup a wireless network in our building with 5 AP’s (RB951’s), on my serverroom i have a RB2011 to route/nat all traffic.

On the RB2011 i’ve created a bridge and added 5 ethernet port’s to that bridge. I’ve setup hotspot functionallity to the bridge

On the 5 AP’s i’ve setup the same SSID&WPA key, the AP’s are connected to the RB2011.

If a user joins the Wireless network he will be prompted for a username and password (hotspot), this works smooth on all AP’s and users are able to roam between the access points.

Management has asked me to setup a second wireless network (open for everybody, no security, no hotspot landing page) I’m not sure how to continue on this, any thougths?

Howdy,

I think a virtual access point (VAP) could be the way to go.

Have a look under “events” on wiki.mikrotik.com. Go to 2008 and look for a presentation by an Indonesian fellow who has a great presentation on Campus access points.

He goes into detail on how to use VAP’s.
