Restore from backup problem

Hi there, I’m facing with troubles to restore a backup from RB750G to RB751G-2hnd.
RB750G died unfortunately, I have a backup from few months ago which is ok, because I haven’t any new changes. Problem is that I receive this error message:

Failed to restore system configuration
Incorrect file size

Any advises?

You cannot restore a backup from one device to another device. You might need to netinstall the device.

You need to do an /export and /import to move a configuration from one router to another.

I haven’t 750G , so I can’t do that. I have a 750UP. Should I try to restore backup on it? It is ok to be able to look at configuration and to setup it manually then.

Or … is it some way to “open” the backup file in some kind of software and to read the configuration?

No, you can’t open the backup to view because they are binary. Your best bet would be to get another 750G and put the backup on that board and then export the configuration.

I did it, unfortunately without any success. On other 750G again the same error.

That’s no good. When we do backups we do both the backup and the export.
