I had a Chateau12 (D53G-5HacD2Hn) running ROS 7.16.0. After I upgraded to 7.17.2 the WireGuard interface was no longer working. I then wanted to restore my version 7.16.0 backup using the Winbox GUI-interface. I uploaded the backup file into the Files window, selected the uploaded backup and clicked the Restore button and rebooted. After the router reboots the Package List window says I am still on version 7.17.2
What did I do wrong?
And BTW anybody having WireGuard problems in ROS 7.17.2
Backup does contain your config only.

And restoring backup on a device with different ROS version is rarely a good idea.
You didn’t do anything wrong, is what you did not do (downgrading to the wanted version).
I had a blind spot. I became clear the moment I read the replies.
I only used the backup a few times to reset a configuration I messed up but always on the same ROS version. Being a binary I wrongly assumed it also included the OS not just the configuration.
