RF Exposure

Definatley not related to Mikrotik, But I think it is important to new users.

Where can one find information on RF exposure limits, precautions while working with wireless radios, etc eg is it safe to be holding a directional antenna in your hand for 10 minutes pointing to your base station for testing purposes?

I have searched the internet, and get no real nswers, figure the people who work in the industry would have a better idea.

Thanks in advance.

Well I have my laptop sitting on my badooingers 4 hours a day so I hope it not bad. :open_mouth:

I was thinking more along the lines of working with directional antenna’s. Say a 23 or 19 DB antenna with 26 db power to it.. Believe the EIRP works out to about 120 watts? Is this safe to stand next to when on when doing alignment?

I am sure a small radio in alaptop does nothing to a person, just these higher powered cards with directional antenna’s is what I am wondering about.

Considering how the antenna generates the 120W EIRP, it is much safer standing next to (NOT in front of) this type antenna than an omni. Almost all power goes in the direction of the focus. Kinda like a pistol. Don’t look down the barrel when it is working!
