Hey all,
I have a problem with one of my wireless backhauls and I’m thinking it may be an RF related problem. The link was installed back in the beginning of the year and when installed it worked flawlessly with great upload and download speeds. Now since the summer months it seems the link quality has greatly degraded. Download speed doesn’t seem to be effected, but uploads are suffering greatly (~150kbps average TCP).
The remote unit has a SNR of 30dB (Tx / Rx -78 / -75). CCQ doesn’t look very impressive with a Tx/Rx of 23/54 % with lows (Tx) in the teens and highs in the ~35 percentile.
For equipment I’m using Routerboard 532A’s with SR5’s on both ends. The Master unit is configured in a PTMP mannor with a 16dBi 90 degree sector. The remote unit has a 29dBi antenna to recieve the signal. It’s a 10 mile link and LoS and Frenzel clearance are good.
Am I going to far with that 16dBi sector? Comments and suggestions appreciated!
