rip settings and real work

ok!!!

i setup ccr1016 fw 6.28 and 6.4 version and…

1 no interface added in routing->rip->interfaces AND i have in routing->rip->routes full table routes received on any interfaces and router make announce routes ?! WHY???
2 i need to disable/enable split horizon (routes announced with metric 16) where i make this setting???

now i add interface and make in passive mode. router cant send any rip packets on interface.

when i remove interface router continue send rip announce packets and update routing table

Just curious, why would you be pushing for development on such a legacy routing protocol?

It is easy to understand, monitor, and configure and is supported by a variety of older devices.
And that where it announced the end of its support devices?

despite being “legacy” its quite common in many ISP’s and MAN networks in those days.
quite contrary, OSPF usage(for example) is remain marginal.
even cheap $12 devices/modems tend to support in in last ~10years.
and “alternatives” ironically - aimed for slightly different purposes and thus - CANNOT replace it, apparently, despite several flaws and imperfections in it.

one of the biggest drawbacks is the treatment equipment manufacturers to work with the default route option.

announcement setting the default route must be made not per device (as in mikrotik router OS), and per interface as well as an option to be similar to receiving a default route.

it is made good in the routing microsoft windows was with her I never have problems with configuring RIP
