Roaming problems on a bridged network

I’ve got a strange problem on a network that we setup for an enterprise. Here is the config:

{ RB532w/AP (Bldg 1) } —Bridged—> { CB3 (linking to RB532 at bldg 1) – Linksys AP(Bridge only) – Netgear Firewall(gateway/dhcp) (all in Bldg 2) }

Everything is bridged. Now here is the problem. When a laptop associates with the Linksys AP it works just fine on the network. If you take that laptop to the building with the RB532, then it associates but will not get on the network nor pass any traffic.

I’m guessing that one of the devices on the network is doing something strange with the arp table. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Could it be the CB3 doesn’t like for you to move a mac from one interface to another?

A CB3 for an enterprise connect?

CB3 is not an 802.1D compliant bridge. CB3’s are based on a reference design by Ubicom i think. I’ve worked with the IP2022 and it’s a nifty platform but the development kit software does not take advantage of it’s features. Did you know that the CB3 is indoor equipment?

A CB3 for an enterprise connect?

Yeah, it is not a big network. Only about 8 clients on each side. What would you recommend? I suppose I could swap it out for a RB112. Do you think that is what is causing the problem?

Eric

Try enabling the “Clone MAC” feature on the CB3.
