ROAMING

I have a query regarding roaming. I have 3 sectors having same ssid, different frequencies, different channels, ap mode = ap bridge and i want to roam the client to automatically connect to a good signal radio.

Is the setup is correct ? or do i need to configure anything at client side ?

Someone also said that you also have to implement WDS to move the users between different radios with good signal.

Please guide me.

All the sectors need to be on the same frequency with wds enabled on all interfaces and set to ap-bridge. All the interfaces will be registered on each other allowing roaming seemlessly.

Thanks mate…at my client side i m using TPLINK 543G Ap router…do i need to configure anything at client to side to enable roaming ?

Bro my radios are in same box do i really need to set same frequencies and same ssid to enable seemless roaming?

I guess you mean you are using one router board with multiple interfaces!

I have not tested that but should work perfect by setting all the interfaces to same frequencry, same ssid but two of the three wlan interfaces should not be added to the bridge. If you are not too much in a hurry, i can run the test and let you let you know exactly what to expect over the weekend.

But i quess it should work fine.

with the same channel it will not help you but will create the interference on it.

simple to say that, mikrotik is not support for roaming. you should forgot about it.

I have Point to Multipoint setup with 433ah board and 3 wlan on same board bridge with ethernet port and wireless mode is ap-bridge. Can i use nstream protocal in point to multipoint ? because sometimes my clients getting good signal but the throughput is not good (large ms). There are many interference in our area.

Can someone suggest me how to solve this problem. I will be very thankful to you.

u can use nstreme if u have mikrotik for client CPE as well. or u can choose for NV2. supported well after RouterOS 5.0

Thanks for the reply
I m using nanostation 2 at client side…its mean that nstream protocol is not supporting my client CPE ?..There is no use of nstream in my network ?

Hello,
I have similar question about wireless roaming, but I have a little different network topology:

Can someone write me how to configure each routerboards (RB_A,B,C) to allow roaming between each wireless interfaces please?
The red area should be local network (e.g. 192.168.1.0/24) and the Internet conectivity can inputs into switch or some routerboard on ether2 NIC.

Help me please with this. I don’t know what is the best. WDS or some kind of MESH or MME routing protocol.

Solved.
I just need to set the same SSID on all wlan, set different frequence and make bridge1(ether1,wlan1) on all routerboards. Additionaly can helps ACL which restrict signal level on each routerboard.
