Rootenna mounting questions

All you Rootenna users, how are you mounting the boards in your Rootenna?

Looks like I may have a rather large job coming up, I’m looking for a better method than drilling holes in the backplate.

Drill the holes in the backplate, put separating screws and assure it to the backplate with nuts. This is the best way and other solutions are botched jobs in my opinion.

You can get plastic standoffs that have double sided tape. I’ve never had one fall or experienced any issues but I also stopped using rootennas about a year ago…

What do you use now? Weatherproof boxes and whatever antenna the job requires?

I’m not looking for the Rootenna for all of the CPE’s, but the simpler I can do this, the better.

Where did you get the plastic standoffs? I haven’t seen any yet.

Hmm, well I see nothing wrong with the rootena’s as they are very convenient at times and have pretty decent embedded antennas. … Ive never been dissapointed. Wish they were a bit more “aeshetic” tho …

Regards.

I believe wlanparts.com still sells the plastic standoffs.

I personally believe rootennas don’t look very professional. I have also found yagi’s are far better with signal, and NLOS penetration.

I use the ARC Wireless integrated antenna solution. Much nicer looking than the Roo.

I couldnt agree more. We’ve used Vagis in one location, and an acquistion
has used Rootennas. Despite local enthusiasm at that location, I’ll stick to
the Vagi/Yagi solution any day.

Neat, easy to install, and low wind profile.
