has anyone experienced strange effects with MTROS on USB media, when this media starts decaying ? like, not all modules loaded, partial functionality loss, and so ?
at the moment i have two such installs:
- one system was booting successifully for like a year, now it says something like “wrong port”, and does not boot. fsck and like tools do not show anything bad on the USB drive.
- another system - still boots, however, anything that is related to http server is dead. no winbox connect, only ssh. and it’s impossible to download anything (including backups) from that machine. the ROS was upgraded from 5.18 to 5.20 and then to 5.23 - all on the same media, and this did not fix the issue. it’s an old 250m kingston drive, so i’m assuming it’s slowly dying, however, as it is licenced, i’m not eager to do many tests with it
also, it seems, that badblocks on USB do not get marked as bad - at least, i can not think of another reason why this could happen.
