why mikrotik has choose to deliver ros updates mostly friday? after is weekend and mikrotik stuff is relaxing i suppose.
is not better on monday-begining of week? so support stuff is working.
just wondering!
You are not forced to upgrade immediately. Actually, while most die-hard users will test it in their test systems on weekends, on Monday you will be sure that there are no last-minute problems discovered.
me too. i first upgrade my rb2011 at home to test and play with!
in my customers i keep latest bugfix until i find a new feature (in current version) that will make my life easier in customer devices. then i upgrade them.
yes, friday is only good for us so we can experiment on weekends. not for customers.
So it is clearly a good idea. Users upgrade in the weekend, find problems, have two days to find workarounds and
circumstances affecting the problem, and by monday when MikroTik arrive at the office they find an aggregated list
of issues and possible workarounds instead of having to register and investigate them one-by-one. Clever.
E.g. my IPv6 RA problem in 6.37. At first I had no idea what was happening (no more IPv6), but after some investigation
I could work around it by setting the protocol mode to none on the bridges where the IPv6 networks are. Without that,
the router declares the routes as unreachable (even though in reality they are OK) and does not announce them.
A good indication where to look for the problem.
sorry. i was meaning this… i change my post
“friday is only good for us so we can experiment on weekends. not for customers.”
speaking for myself i have weekends free and i like experiment with new features, bugs etc with my own rb’s at home!
