I’m using few mAP lite just to bring up an L2TP tunnel to a common L2TP server
As I experience some issues with L2TP tunnels, I would try to switch to Wireguard
Is V7 too heavy for mAP lite ?
I have mAP Lite lying right next to me running ROS 7.17.1 just fine.
It has about 3.5Mb free storage.
I have a mAP2nd (same platform as mAP Lite) running with a customer as main router (small shop) with IPSEC to Azure.
Also running 7.17.1, no problems.
Wireguard fine!, BTH wireguard no and thus assuming you are using the maplite as a client to server somewhere, or have a public IP available locally ( from ISP directly ) or port forwarding from upstream router.
I haven’t yet tested Wireguard behind NAT , the actual purpose of hAPlite inside the LAN is to call remote server to build tunnel , then a netmap rule allows local LAN machines to be reachable with an arbitrary LAN address mapping from a machine that resides on server side.
I would use Wireguard instead of actual L2TP/ipsec
Of course hAP is not the gateway of its LAN.
Forgot
That map I mentioned, also runs wireguard to central rb5009 and eoip on top for romon.
Works just fine.
