Router Backup Question

I will be using the same model # router, the 750gl most of the time. Is it possible to make a master backup image and then use it on each new router that I get? This way it has the basic settings that I need and I don’t have to input them every time. Almost like automating a windows installation. Is this possible? Thanks.

Assuming you are running v5.12 or later…

In the terminal, do:
/export compact file=WhateverThe script file will show up in /files as Whatever.rsc. Copy this to your computer and open with a text editor of your choice. Examine the script to find the items that would change between routers (IP settings, name, etc), and modify the file to be used as a template.

When you want to configure a new router, make the changes to the script, and apply the script by either

  1. copy / pasting into the terminal, or
  2. upload to the router and run this command in the terminal:
    /import Whatever.rsc
