ok so i have a 411 behind another router. i use a mac (winbox in wine wrapper) that is kind of hit or mis finding routerOS equipment to connect to via MAC address. this particular 411 router has a configuration i dont remember and opening and hitting reset although it is an option well darn it i dont have a screwdriver handy… anyway this is a recurring issue id like to know how to resolve.
I plug the unknown router into the routerboard i have on my desk that has an ip address and i have full access to…
how would i then go about finding the information about the connected unknown router and ideally open an ssh session directly to it.
so far i only find the MAC address of the unknown router by using Winbox to check the bridge hosts.
thats as much as i know how to isolate/find a connected device, either via ip served via dhcp or this hosts list. hosts lists however doesn’t help me connect to the device since i cant ssh to the MAC address from routeros
WISP operators must run into this kind of an issue all of the time with a non technician on-site with a piece of random equipment you want to configure remotely. any help appreciated
