**_hi my friends
is it true that using of mini pci xr-5 ( the image down) will cause processor overheating of router board 433?
what is the maxiumum tx power of wireless card can be used without damage the routerboard (save to the routerboard)

I’ve used XR5 with RB433, RB600 and RB333.
The only issues I’ve had were physical fitment of the card itself and it will not run with a weak power supply.
so how much power supply you should have to run normally
need clear idea…please
24v .8 amp or better.
I have had a few issues with 18v with high powered cards.
I run single XR5 cards in 433AH, 411AH, 333, 532A, and 600A. No problems.
At first I paid no attention to power supply. What happens is that board will boot and radio will link up. But when you start pushing much traffic the board will simply reboot.
24V/1A or 12V/2A will get the job done on the smaller boards. But don’t skimp on your power.
Excuse me. I shouldn’t say no problems.
There is, of course, the long running mikrotik shenanigans with the XR5 power offset.
inb4 “UBNT’s fault”
execuse me but what do you mean by your saying
But when you start pushing much traffic the board will simply reboot.
with thanks
If you do not give the board enough power then when the radio start pushing traffic it will reboot.
In other words, don’t think that just because your board w/ XR5 turns on and is stable that your power supply is good enough. You should test it under load.
The problem I had was the board wouldn’t power on properly. If I plugged the power adapter to the wall outlet, it would light up and not boot.
If I plugged the Ethernet up with the wall adapter already plugged up it would boot and work fine.
so the proplem was in power adaptor
why you did not use power adaptor in the same voltage but with high amperage
lets say 24v/2amp
I have used a lot of 433AH + XR5 with a 24volt 1.6amp power supplies and found they are very reliable but note I only use one XR5 per 433 board and the 433 will only take 2 XR5 radio cards due to the size of the heatsink, so slot 1 and 3 can be used for XR5’s but not all 3 slots for 3 sectors and besides using one board for 3 radio cards is a bad idea if the board goes down or one radio card then you lose all 3 sectors.
The power adapter works fine with lower powered boards.
I did replace it with a higher powered adapter and the problems went away. The old 18v adapters are still in use on my bench for low power draw units.
