Router Board does not boot up after OS upgrade (Solved)

Hi Guys.


I have a new RB 433 UAH that i upgrade the OS and after that it does not boot up any more.

Try with POE and different power supply to make sure power was not the problem.


The RB come up the light shine on the network interfaces but no beep sound come up and then the LED LD504 come on and that is it nothing happen after it.

I also try serial port and nothing :frowning:


I being reading for 2 days and i don’t see any way that i can recover this hardware.

Please i really want get this RB up and running .

With serial connection you should be able to reinstall OS with netinstall

Hi There.


Thanks very much for your input , but i have try the serial port and nothing happen , really.

I even try the same link that you have post me.

I dont know what to do any more.

Was the board working OK before you tried to upgrade?

Yes it was , no problem , i just want to keep it up to date and i end up on this problem.

I would suggest you should use netinstall to reinstall previous OS and see does unit boot up, and what file did you use for upgrade was it mipsbe version for rb400 series.

How can i do a net install if the router board does not respond on the serial port??

What method did you use to upgrade - serial lead + netinstall , or winbox

It’s hard to see why an OS upgrade would affect the bootloader.

Can you show a screenshot of your settings when you try to access the board via its serial port?

Was this your first time upgrading with winbox, did you allow enough time for new OS to install you didn’t by any chance remove the power to the board during the upgrade process which can take about 4-5mins, if you did then use a serial cable and use netinstall to recover by reinstalling the OS

Hi There.

I fix it using the serial cable , my update did not went well so i got this manual.

Went into a cabling company and they did the cable for me with this specifications as the manual say then i use this tutorial.

Please i have similar issue with my RBSXTLite5ac, It does not boot up again after i did an upgrade. It only shows led light and nothing happens. please what do i do?
