router board for class b network

I’m looking to put a MT router into my network to replace some older T100 routers but I need one that can support a private class b.

Ideally I’m looking to be able to create a dhcp group that can hand out more than just a class c.

I’ve tried some various middle line netgear routers but although they can handle a class b they can only hand out one class c worth of addresses. I’d also like to not have to spend the big bucks on a cisco etc. MT is so nicely priced?

What lvl license and what routerboards could someone recommend that would allow me to create a 172.16.x.x network with the dhcp pool size I need. (approx 400 addresses ).

I’m not a network guru but not a novice either. Just can’t do it within the confines of a single class c and keep everything on the same local network

A 450G will do that easily, and will be able to grow to bigger networks.

Thanks, I had been reading up on that model as I see some companies off them prebuilt in an enclosure.

Do I need to configure it via command line or does the rb450g also have a ‘webbox’ gui I can play with?

All RouterOS devices have an extremely rudimentary web interfaces (rudimentary to the point of ‘don’t use it’, v5 will bring a full features web interface), a command line interface and a GUI called winbox.

The wiki describes them in great detail.
