Router building

I’m building a home wi-fi router.
Here are parts I’ve chosen:

  • MikroTik RouterBoard RB411AR (built-in wireless 802.11bg radio)
    MikroTik RB411 case
    24 POW 24V 0.7A Power Supply
(http://bit.ly/emTUJM AC/MMCX || http://bit.ly/dQirPE RF cable MMCXNF - Pigtail cable, MMCX to N female connector, 18 cm cable (HDF-100 low loss), RoHS compliant) I guess they are the same

This board will work with my 2.4 GHz antenna and 5 computers.

Is this a good configuration ? Are there any mistakes ? Or did I miss something ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

What is the gain of your 2.4 Ghz antenna and distance between modem and computers.
Else setup is ok without any issue.

Keep in mind, you will ONLY have wireless connectivity if you are using it as your firewall/router. There is only one LAN port.

Otherwise, they are good units. I have tons of them in the field. A simple 7db antenna will get you really good range.

Forget about 802.11 bg - take 802.11n!
