My router got hacked and know I can’t log in remotely . WhenI was able to connect locally the last time, I upgraded it to the latest firmware and changed the password to a more secure one.
I’m trying to use winbox remotely over a PPTP VPN ,the VPN connection is established but can’t login with winbox or SSH
I would reset the device to factory defaults and load a recent backup.
And change all the passwords.
Of course, I forgot that… 
And fix the firewall.
Recently ran into same issue. If its the same Botnet hack Winbox and port 80 have been told to respond to a LAN IP network that doesn’t exists. But I was able to SSH in even though I had previously disabled it.
