Router Has sudden stops.....

Hi my main line router (3.0ghz 1gb ram, flash drive) stops working suddenly for about 2 seconds at a time throughout the day. Any ideas?

more detailed hardware descript please..

I am using Shuttle XPC’s as my headend boxes. Using the onboard ethernet port as ether1 and a realtek card for ether2. These boxes just have a boat load of simples queues on them for my class c. They also have a few pppoe customers connecting to it, as well as a few firewall rules. On the inside of the network the symptoms are that every 10 minutes or so it just hangs for about 30 seconds and then takes off working again. beginning to be a pain in the ass lol. Is there a way to monitor anything to see if it is my main line or my mikrotik?

It looks to me that you have “double wammied” yourself.

There are SEVERAL reports of issues with bothe the VIA chipset and the realtek cards…

I would suggest getting ahold of an all intel solution.

I have NEVER had an intel based box lock up under RouterOS I have only had one issue with intel, and that was a driver / connection time out issue.. (2.9 B16 I think)…

I have has issues with the P3 shuttle hardware. (Cap related).. power supplies were also an issue (probable Cap related)..

Honistly I would give an Intel main board with with an intel card for the 2nd interface a try.. it may very well stabalise your system..

I have quite a few of these boxes out there with no reports of any problems ecept with this one. maybe I have a dud card. The box doesnt actually lock up, it just quits passing traffic for a second then it works again.
