The router on a stick wiki is helpful but I need to modify it slightly and want to make sure I setup the properties accordingly.
What I am not grasping is which mode to use and how to treat the header for the setup as follows on a 260GS:
Port 1 (trunk) VLAN 1
Port 2 VLAN 101, 198
Port 3 VLAN 101,198,2
Port 4 VLAN 101,198
Port 5 VLAN 101,198
Starting with VLAN tab, I presume I want to use strict mode as the VLAN’s will also be tagged by the router and coming in on port 1
Default VLAN ID section I am not sure. Since I want option to use different VLAN’s off any port, I THINK this should be set to VLAN1?
VLAN header section. Router on a stick wiki strips the header. I could use an explanation of this setting. Wiki does not go into that detail.
On VLANs tab
All ports will be set to ‘leave as is’ with the exception of ports 1,2,4,5 which will be set to ‘not a member’ for VLAN2
Am I correct on the first swing? Or, what correction does my plan need?
