Router OS 2.9.51 Crashes every day

Hello
My Router crashes almost every day
with such problem unregistered net device …
and it begins to reboot for 5 minutes or often untill I switched of power.
what is going on?
I do not want to upgrade to 3.1X because of PPPTP and PPPOE DIE issue.
who can tell me what can I do,
Any suggestions or advice?

What kind of hardware are you using?

We use
P5PL2 with 1 GB of RAM
http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?modelmenu=2&model=941&l1=3&l2=11&l3=244

Sounds like a watchdog reboot.
Have you checked log file?

Log does not tell anything,
only when I click to open new terminal the above mentioned error is appears.

It sounds like a hardware problem. Have you tried to isolate it by moving the hard drive to another PC?

Tom

We have changed the router PIV > PIII IBM
and it works fine, but here the cpu is always ~ 60% used.

so? it’s not 100%

No Yet, But soon it will be 100%, as the number of my users grows.

Buy another PC and try.

I have changed already 4 PC all they were PIV but no difference.
Only difference was the interval of crash.

How many users? How much data?

Up to 10 Mbps, and I am going to enlarge that bandwidth.
I’d like to know what Motherboard could you advice to use.
Thanks

It still sounds like a hardaware problem so in etheir way or other
I think you need to check your hardware, may be your HDD?
We have one RouterOS version 2.9.50 installed on a computer
Pentium III 400MHz, and isn’t causing any problem, nor CPU load.
We have simple queues running on this machine and time to time
we use it as Proxy for testing also.

As for motherboard, I think IBM with intel chipset are very steady

I’ve had:
1.P3 1Ghz with i815
2.Duron 1.8Ghz on Gigabyte with KM266
3.P4 2.4Ghz
4.AMD X2 Gigabyte (nVidia chipset)
they all worked, I think you should check ypur configuration ar change the LAN card’s.
