Hi!
I have been tasked by my boss, to move our internet uplink. Currently, we re working with a 120/10 Mbit link on optics. Our company is moving away about 1,5 km from here, and there is no optics at our new office. I climbed to the top of the buildings, and both offices have clear view of each other. I am thinking of moving our uplink via wireless. I haven’t had much wireless experience other than setting up tp-link access-points, but I did a lot of cisco, so I do have networking know-how.
Since Mikrotik is a good brand in Hungary, I thought of making a wireless link, from this into this this:
|optical cable modem|------------------------------------------------|firewall server|
|optical cable modem|–|switch|–|AP|::wireless link::|AP|–|switch|–|firewall server|
I thought of a configuration, and I ask your help: will this configuration do the job?
I think I need to make one of these:Transparently Bridge two Networks, like:
THIShttp://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks
or
THIShttp://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Transparently_Bridge_two_Networks_without_using_WDS_(EoIP)
or

First question: what is the difference between the three examples? I mean I need to encrypt the traffic somehow, but which one has more throughput? I tried to find out, but it is still a bit chinese to me.
I will post links with the equipment i thought I would use.
I thought of using RB411AH http://www.wlan-ok.hu/product.php?productid=477&cat=60&page=1 as access points, I was told it could handle heavy traffic. I understand, that it has only a 100 Mbit ethernet port, but I am on a budget. I am willing to sacrifice the 20 Mbit I lose like this.
For wireless card, I was thinking R52N http://www.wlan-ok.hu/product.php?productid=119&cat=0&page=2 since it has wireless n support so it supports high bandwidth. Since the link is only 1,5 km, I don’t think that I should worry about the wattage of the card.
For antenna, I think is should use a parabola dish on both rooftops. What size should I choose?
For antenna head, should I use a simple one http://www.wlan-ok.hu/product.php?productid=227&cat=32&page=1 or should I go with a dual head? http://www.wlan-ok.hu/product.php?productid=59&cat=32&page=1 If I understand the R52N supports a dual head. This way I would have 2 links, one for sending one for recieving. That boosts throughput.
Other question: On the top of the new building, there is already a wireless link with a parabola. I was told it is a Mikrotik link too, using 5GHZ range, dual head, and handling 40/40 Mbit traffic. It points to another building, that is only a few degrees away from our old building but some mile away. Will it make an interference? What should I ask about it to confirm things?
Again, the main objective is to get 100 Mbit/10 Mbit through the link. Will this equipment do the job?
THX in advance
