Router resets DHCP Client on restart

I am attempting to disable the DHCP Client, in order to set the router to a static IP provided by the ISP.

I removed the DHCP Client completely, added the IP address, and added DNS servers. Everything works fine, and I can connect to the network from the outside.

15 minutes later, or if I reboot the router, all of the changes I've made in regards to this are being reset to default. My previous changes, ports and devices on the down-side, they keep the settings I've made, so only the DHCP Client is affected.

Why does this happen? Did I miss some setting?

Export your configuration (see Forum rules - RouterOS / Beginner Basics - MikroTik community forum) and check whether you have any scripts / scheduler items running that might add the DHCP client. Also check whether detect-internet is enabled, according to the doc, that might also install DHCP clients. Detect Internet is best kept disabled (set all list to none).

There are no scripts running, and all the detect-internet options are set to none.

I made a factory reset of the device a month ago, so assume everything is set to default settings

Are you maknig changes in safe mode?
Have you tried using cli instead of GUI (I assume)?

In the gaming community a common meme is (maybe was):

Screenshot or it didn't happen.

In the Mikrotiking one  that becomes:

Config or it didn't happen.

:slightly_smiling_face:

Safe mode is turned off.

What's interesting is that I removed the DHCP client in the GUI, and when I checked /ip dhcp-client print then it still shows the ether1 client (where I have my WAN connection)

Is it supposed to do that?

How many time?
/export

The problem lies deeper it seems:

I changed some firewall rules: All of them disappeared on restart.
I tried updating to the latest firmware (currently running 6.46.8), and it reverted back after installation.
I made a backup, restarted the router, and the backup file disappeared in the file list.

Safe mode is visibly turned off, but it seems like no changes at all are being kept. Which is odd, because all the prior changes I made earlier when I made the factory reset, they are being kept. Nobody but myself has accessed this router since then.

Where should I start looking?

Since you do whatever you want and don't listen:

https://mikrotik.com/consultants?category=consultants

/export

Unable to provide that, as I am forbidden from sharing sensitive information. Is there anything in specific I should be looking for?

Edit........

Please be advised and let your scary superiors know that there is no sensitive information revealed in an export. Further, you can download the file and inspect it and remove anything that may concern you.
The typical SAFE extraction
/export file=anynameyouwish ( minus router serial number, any public WANIP information, keys (typicall for any vpn), dhcp lease lists.

There is nothing else that can be sensitive unless you have scripts that run, that have such information and thus just put in fake numbers or letters or remove etc....

YOu will not get your issues solved here otherwise. As suggested a consultant would be required and guess what they will need to see the config as well.

There's no need to be rude. I am looking for assistance as I clearly lack the competence to solve this problem on my own, and I ask you to keep things civil.

You can remove sensitive information from export. By default it does not contain sensitive information, unless you store sensitive info in comments.

RouterOS 6.46.8
Model CRS326-24G-2S+

That's about as much that I am able to provide.

why do you keep posting, and bothering us with no information. As stated, go pay for a consultant.

In such Case you'd better hire a consultant and let the consultant sign a NDA.

Well, the consultant said, quote: "Toss it and buy a different router".

If you lack the interest to help my case, then I ask you to leave.

Will do, thank you.

This irritates me. You had a consultant on site who recommended to "toss the device" after having seen all the infos (configuration, device, hardware, etc.). Still you come here, provide little to no information and expect miracles? None here has supernatural powers.
