Routerboard 411 no wireless

Hi

I looked at a client’s site… The routerboard is labled Routerboard 411/411R , but it looks like a 411A with a Minipc slot and not onboard wireless. the current wireless in the slot is a AWPCI085H that seems to hae stopped working… according to the client, this will be the second wireless that stopped working the last 7 months.

The grounding is correct and it was suggested a R52 card needs to be installed. The arial is a D/G 1004804 omnidirectional.

Question .. Any reason why the wireless boards would stop working ??

Second .. where can i find info on the LED501 - LED505 to see what they indicate ?? and what does the beeps mean ?? I can not fine thisin the user manuals…

Kind regards

Ben

the PCB is labelled such way, but it doesn’t include a radio. You can identify the model in RouterOS “/system routerboard” menu. Or in Winbox title bar. The correct model name should also be on the sticker that has the serial number.

LEDs are

Six LEDs (LD 501-506) are located to the right of the Serial port. Their functions are as follows:
• LED 1-5 are all user programmable
• LED 4 when not programmed shows Bootloader activity
• LED 5 when not programmed shows NAND activity
• LED 6 is used for Wireless activity (not active in current RouterOS versions)

cards could burn down for several reasons:

  • manual-tx-power is used and set above the card’s capacity (overclocking will damage it)
  • ESD damage during storms. use shielded cables and lightning arrestors in addition to grounding. also read if your grounding is correct;

Hi, can you remove RF shield? Can you check is it baseband radio chip there? Carefully check with finger is it cold or hot? Don’t touch chip legs.
