RouterBoard 450 - random crashes

Hi folks,

Firstly, this is my first post in this forum.

I just decided to set up my RouterBoard 450 based router I purchased some time ago. It comes installed with RouterOS 3.6.
I set up ECMP, DHCP server and such things I need for my home internet connection and so far it works good, except for…

Winbox keeps crashing and hanging time after time. Sometimes it even crashes in a way that it is not possible to connect to the board anymore. Then a power cycle is required for it to work again. Apparently, in these cases the internal management service crashes, that’s why such behaviour.

These crashes happen regardless of the router configuration and regardless of what I am doing in the current moment, yet most cases have been the IP>Firewall dialog box. Due to the randomness of these crashes it is impossible to provide any specific router configuration.

Now, the question is - could that be simply manufacturing fault of the router or just a matter of OS upgrade (I see the current version is 3.13 - are such bugs fixed in it?). The previous RouterBoard 450 I installed (that was my first one) had RouterOS 2.9 installed and suffered none of these weird crashes.

Best regards,
Alvils

I would suggest upgrading to most current version.

Are you connected via IP or MAC with winbox?

Make sure you upgrade both RouterOS and the firmware. There have been many changes since 3.6.

RB/450 came out after version 3 RouterOS so there never was a version 2.9.x made for it. You are probably confusing it with the older RB/150.

Hi,

Regarding RB150 - could be so

Regarding the connection - I am connecting via IP. Another thing is that routing capabilities of the router are not lost. Just the management service and telnet do crash.
