RouterBOARD 500 Korina NIC unstable?

Hi,

I’m experienceing an intermitent problem with the Korina NIC on my RouterBOARD 500. Every now and again, the interface seems to stop responding and I need to reboot the board before it will work again. At first I had this interface connected to my upstream router and rebooting the router also seemed to breath life back into it! The VIA interfaces exhibit no such problems.

The interval between the outages varies between a few minutes and several hours, and seems to depend on the amount of traffic passing through the interface. I’m running Debian off a CF card.

Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any ideas on what could be causing this problem? I’m totally stumped

The Korina driver in the patch from routerboard.com is stable with that kernel. Must be some change in your kernel or other change.

That’d be my suspicion too… I’ll have another look at the kernel config and maybe set up some extra logging on a daemon or two (I’m running bind, a DHCP server and some NetFilter stuff on the board).

Until then, I’ve wangled a workaround by running ifconfig of the interface periodically via a cron job, which seems to refresh something and keep the thing alive.
