RouterBOARD 532A constantly rebooting

A router board 532A constantly reboots. When I power it on I get a beep after 3 seconds then the next beep beep after 15 seconds like normal, but then it starts all over. I have tried the reset button on the board which had no effect. I am using the POE and have tried replacing that
I’ve tried different Ethernet cables.

what wireless cards are you using and what power supply, how long is the ethernet cable?

yes i had the same problem.
u have to check first whats give error message when u connect the router through console.
in my case it gave me following error message.

RouterBOOT booter 2.6

RouterBoard 532A

CPU frequency: 399 MHz
Memory size: 64 MB

Press any key within 2 seconds to enter setup..
trying bootp protocol… OK
Got IP address: 192.168.1.1
resolved mac address 00:15:58:DC:8C:1D
transfer started … transfer ok, time=0.95s
setting up elf image… OK
jumping to kernel code
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(0,0

i send mail to mikrotik support but still not reply me back.

u can try

  1. format nand
    2.install OS through netinstall

best of luck .

that’s a power problem
it may be happens cuz of mismatch power adapter or if u use POE the lan cabel is too long
or it becuz incompatible hardware

try to upgrade the Routerboards firmware before reinstalling the RouterOS.

I have had some rb532s behave this way once upgraded, just put them back to 2.9.50 and they were fine. Never was able to get them to work no matter what.

But I did have one that the lightning protector must have been clamping the voltage on randomly over and over when I removed it everything worked fine. I realized this after replacing the rb532 with another one exactly configured and the problem stayed at the site not the board. Try this, it will eliminate half of the variables.

I have almost this exact same issue.

We recently purchased 30 RB532As and only one of them has this problem.

It boots normally, I can access it with winbox and via telnet/ssh, etc…

Then, at random, it will simply reboot.

Using POE with a 1m network cable, 2 R52 wlan cards, running at 399Mhz.
Still happens when plugged in directly to the wall. 12V adapter, jumpers set to 12V.

This thing is stock. Came with RouterOS 2.9.49 on it and Firmware version 2.9.

I formatted the NAND, upgraded the firmware to 2.12, and loaded RouterOS 3.6 on it.
Tried it with and without wlan cards installed.

Same issue. random reboots.

I’m wondering if I should send this one back if nobody has a fix for it.

Hai Frens,
Yes. in several time ago, i had success about this problem.
and my recommend to you to find solution.
try to upgrade firmware by Serial-Connection, and make sure you have *.fwf newest file by downloading first from http://www.routerboard.com than upgrade/upload by serial connection.

good luck...

Yes, I upgraded to the latest firmware. Same problem. I have tried net install and serial install.

I even had the rebooting problem when it was running linux from the CF card.

I have a similar problem. I just bought a Routerboard 433AH and am trying to use it as a repeater station. I configured it using WDS mode. it works perfectly well when I used a short lan cable to power the POE, but when I extended the cable the board reboots as soon as you try to connect to it’s wifi signal.
