Routerboard boot loop

Hi all,

I have an RB411 that is stuck in a bootloop after upgrading it from ROS 3. This is more for interests sake than actually fixing it, client is already using a new LHG.

It was on ROS 3. Upgraded it to 4 since that was licensing max. After that it licensed allowed up to 6 so I threw on the latest 6.43.5 and it never completed.

I’ve had issues upgrading RB133’s (should go straight to bin) before but the 4-series never gave me any problems until now.

It’s stuck in a loop, it does its first beep and restarts the cycle. Trying to netinstall the device only gives a “deeper” beep when it should enter netboot mode.

Anyone have any info regarding this?

Cheers,
mb

Did you connect the device directly to a PC’s LAN port? In windows this will not work
because the NIC doesn’t come up due to that the the router’s NIC isn’t up. Connect the
router via a switch to the PC that you are running netinstall from this will bring up the
PC’s NIC so it can do a netinstall.
